New Year, Same Me? Maybe.
As the calendar flips to another year, there’s always this buzz around “New Year, New Me.” But if I’m being completely honest, I’m not sure that phrase fits me this time around. Is it a new year? Absolutely. A new me? Still working on that. If anything, I feel like I’m in the midst of a continuous project—the best version of myself is still under construction. So, instead of jumping into resolutions and reinventions, I’m taking my time to figure out what I really want this year to mean.
But here’s what I do know: I want to embrace new challenges, build routines that excite me, and infuse every part of my life with intention and joy. Let me break it down for you…
Physical Wellness: Moving with Joy
First up, tennis. This year, I’m making it a priority to return to the sport that’s been part of my life since I was eight. It’s more than a workout for me; it’s a connection to childhood mornings spent at the club with my dad, meeting friends who are still in my life today, and finding pure joy in movement. My goal? Retake tennis classes and play at least once a week.
And yes, I know tennis has become a bit of an “aesthetic” trend—all about the chic outfits and retro vibes—but honestly, I’m here for it. Right now, I’m obsessed with a certain brand (sharing below, of course) and am seriously tempted to buy everything. Add Sporty & Rich to the mix, and you’ve got my current vibe in a nutshell.
Beyond tennis, I’m sticking with my Pilates routine. It’s become more than exercise; it’s a ritual—a way to feel strong, centered, and yes, stylish (mirror selfies included). From cool studios to fresh workout fits, Pilates continues to bring structure and variety to my days.
Mental Wellness: Space for Growth
Meditation has been a game-changer for me, and this year, I’m leveling up. Mornings are my sacred time to breathe deeply, ground myself, and set the tone for the day. This year, I’m giving my meditation practice more intention—creating a vibe with soft lighting, calming scents, and a ritual that feels like a gift to myself. It’s about slowing down and pouring love into the moment.
I’m also doubling down on reading. My goal? Thirty minutes a day on weekdays. But I’m not stopping there. I want to explore new perspectives: different cultures, religions, political viewpoints, and ways of thinking. I’m challenging myself to listen more, react less, and understand people better. If you’re on a similar journey, I highly recommend Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. It’s a beautiful blend of inspiration and creativity—perfect for keeping the fire alive.
Creative Wellness: Feeding My Soul
This year, I’m leaning into creativity—whether it’s art, writing, or cooking. My hands crave creation, my mind craves exploration, and my soul craves expression. One of my goals is to cook with intention—to approach each dish as an experience, a story, a piece of art. I want to learn the history behind the flavors, the techniques, and the traditions, all while adding my personal touch.
Right now, Casa Lawa is on my radar as a culinary inspiration, but I’m staying open to discovering new influences along the way. It’s about more than making food; it’s about celebrating the connection between past traditions and present creativity.
Professional Evolution: Enter DC Formula
Big news for 2025: I’m officially launching DC Formula, my experiential and curated well-being consulting brand. This is the culmination of my life’s work, passions, and unique perspective. DC Formula is a collection of my experiences—travels, relationships, novels, playlists, memories—all blended into a unique approach to crafting meaningful brand experiences. It’s personal, it’s intentional, and it’s me.
Exploration: Passport, Please
Travel remains a cornerstone of my life. This year, I want to explore places I’ve never been, try things I’ve never done, and learn things I’ve never known. Whether it’s a quick getaway or a life-changing journey, my goal is to keep discovering, growing, and immersing myself in the beauty of the world.
Because here’s the thing: the more I learn, the more I can give—to myself, to others, and to the world.
Living the Now
So, 2025, are you ready for me? Or maybe the question is: am I ready for you? Either way, I’m here. I’m living in the now, embracing what comes, and sharing it all with love.
As a little gift, I’ve included some of my favorite things from December to January below. Here’s to a year filled with growth, joy, and inspiration.
With love,
MDC
